Location in Open Lap of Nature :
In the verdant lap of Mountains, Bhimtal, a triangular lake is 21km far from Nainital. Government has constructed Vikas Bhawan building in Bhimtal and most of the District Administration offices of Nainital District are shifted in Vikas Bhawan Complex.

Soothing to Heart, Mind & Soul :
Bhimtal is an ancient place named after Prince Bhima of Mahabharata. It’s heard that Pandu’s son Bhima dug the land here and originated a huge lake. There is an ancient Bheemeshwar Mahadev Temple, an old Shiva temple here, which might have been constructed by Bhima or in sacred memory of Bhima. It’s a pleasant destination for the travelers of the region from hills to plains or from plains to hills. The old road connects nearby Kathgodam to all Kumaun region and even to Nepal and Tibet. There is a small natural lake, Nal Damyanti Tal, Naukuchia Tal, which is about 2 km far from Bhimtal. Hidimba Parvat, Vankhandi Ashram, Temple of Nag Karkotaka Maharaj, one of the famous nag temples situated in Uttarakhand region and Sayad Baba ki Mazar are the major spiritual spots here.
Like Nainital it has two corners, which are known as Tallital and Mallital. The area is `far from the madding crowd’. Most of the tourists leave for Bhimtal early in the morning to feel the panorama of nature. They enjoy boating, horse riding, mountain biking and para gliding.
